Apple CEO could expand investment in Vietnam
Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to announce new investment in Vietnam to expand its operations and support the development in the country reports local media VnExpress.
Tim Cook on Monday landed in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi on a two-day business trip. Cook’s trip schedules meetings with content creators and app developers on the company’s app distribution platform App Store.
The Apple chief is expected to announce a new investment expansion plan during his trip to improve Apple’s presence in Vietnam. These funds may go to the local supply chain and a clean water initiative at schools.
Apple has continued to introduce new services in Vietnam since last year. That includes the online Apple Store in May, Apple Pay in August, and Siri voice assistance support for the Vietnamese language.
It is revealed that Apple has spent around 400 trillion dong ($16 billion) in the country since 2019 to improve its supply chain including a license award to Apple supplier Luxshare Precision Industry Co to invest an additional $300 million in its plant in Vietnam’s northern province of Bac Giang.
