Hyundai increases EV sales in the U.S. in Q1 2024

Hyundai Motor America has shared the sales results of Q1 2024 with an improvement in electric vehicle volume of 100 percent in March this year.

The automaker has recorded more than 58 percent growth for IONIQ 5 EV, +62 percent growth for Tucson PHEV, and 48 percent for Tucson HEV through last month.

IONIQ 5 in March sold 3,361 units in comparison to 2,114 units in March 2023 with 58 percent year-over-year growth. This Model sold a total of 6,822 units in the first quarter this year compared to 5,736 units during the same period last year with more than an 18 percent yearly increment.

IONIQ 6 on the other hand accounted for 1,984 units in March compared to only 222 units in March 2023. It was a 794 percent year-over-year boost. In the first quarter, this model sold an overall 3,646 units and a total of 222 units in Q1 2023 with a 1542 percent yearly growth rate.

Hyundai sold a total of 76,920 units in March 2024 compared to 75,404 in March 2023 with a 2 percent YoY growth. Through Q1 2024, Hyundai sold 184,804 units of vehicles in the U.S. compared to 184,449 vehicles in the first quarter of the previous year, which is a 0.2 YoY improvement.

The total sales of EVs jumped by 62 percent in Q1 compared to the first quarter of 2023.
