Rivian R1T and R1S getting major features, software improvements and bug fix update

Rivian today announced a major features pack update rollout for its R1T and R1S electric vehicles with new quick controls, better ride experience, system improvements as well as bug fixes.

Quick Controls:

Rivian has replaced the existing Vehicle app with new quick controls. These enable quick access to common features such as doors, lights, and exterior mirrors.

Quick controls can be set to automatically show and come with an option to customize these shortcuts.

Window Locking:

The update introduces new “Window Locks” to customize passenger window locks. By default, the feature is set to lock rear passenger windows.

Ride Height:

It is optimizing the ride and comfort of both R1T and R1S by adding the selection of Ride Feel settings for on-road Drive Modes. It has improved ride feel in conserve mode in scenarios such as speed bumps, potholes, and driveways at lower speeds.

The automaker is collaborating with the Rivian Rebelle Rally team to improve Soft Sand mode by increasing ride height and ride feel selections.

App Notification:

Its mobile app will now notify when the vehicle charging is completed on the public charger. Note that the notification also includes any fees (if applicable) when you plug in your vehicle at Rivian Waypoints or Adventure Network.

Improvements

Notification for lane centering in the Highway Assist re-engage feature has been improved and added ability to extend the power outlet timer while outlets are on.

New improvements for the infotainment system include a QR code to connect to the vehicle’s Wi-Fi hotspots. It fixes the following issues for the central control center:

  • Settings icon glitch
  • Seat calibration panel appearing during Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Notification partially obstructs the camera view during the reverse drive
  • Bluetooth audio glitch after a hands-free phone call is ended

Bug Fixes

There are other issues fixed in the vehicle itself such as mirrors unfolding when you exit the vehicle. It patches an increased overnight range loss at home and charger-related bugs.

Rivian is releasing this software update for R1T and R1s in batches and you can check for the update in the notification section of the mobile app.
