FSD Beta V12 will rollout soon for all testers in the U.S.

Full Self Driving (FSD) Beta V12 version has recently started to rollout for some of the public Tesla owners and the company confirmed today that this new FSD will expand to all testers across the U.S. in a few weeks.

FSD is one of the most ambitious Tesla projects and it allows the vehicle to ride on its own through different scenarios including highways and traffic. The current version doesn’t have fully autonomous driving capabilities and requires the full driver’s attention.

Tesla confirmed that the company began V12 of FSD Beta last December. It has training data from past FSD versions generated by many Tesla vehicles.

The key change in FSD v12 includes the increased control of AI vehicle controls including the steering wheel, pedals, indicators, and other parts. All of these productive are part of the end-to-end neural network training and replaced all of the hand-written C++ code.

“V12 marks a new era in the path to full autonomy,” wrote the company in a press release of the Q4 and 2023 earnings call.

Initially, Tesla released the FSD software version 12 for Tesla employees and last week, to some customers. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that Tesla will be releasing the FSD V12 version widely for all testers across the U.S.

Musk further revealed that the company has planned this update for over 400,000 Tesla vehicles, that participated in the FSD program.

“We’ll be rolling (v12) to all, those customers in the U.S. who request full self-driving over weeks to come, that’s over 400,000 vehicles in North America,” said Musk during the 2023 earning call.

One of the early FSD Beta V12 testers shared a new experience with this vehicle revealing new improvements in the driving and other controls in real time.
