Circle K expanding new EV chargers across Ireland
Circle K, an extensive network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations chain in Ireland, announced last week that the expansion of new chargers is coming soon.
The expansion includes 12 new EV chargers alongside Ionity, a high-power charging station network for EVs from Europe.
Six sites across the country will have the new EV chargers installed. These locations are:
- Athlone, Co. Westmeath
- Gorey, Co. Wexford
- City North, Co. Meath
- Cashel, Co. Tipperary
- Kill North Co. Kildare
- Kill South, Co. Kildare
Each of these sites will install 2 new charging stations except the City North, Co. Meath, which will get 4 new charging stations.
With these new additions, every single one of these sites will now have 6 and a total of 36 charging points.
These chargers are installed by Ionity for Circle K Ireland, which will manage the charging stations across the installed sites.
The move comes as a step to support the country’s plan to decarbonize transportation in Ireland with a better EV charging infrastructure by 2025.
In the next 18 months, Circle K will develop its own branded EV chargers in 30 new sites with an investment of 7 million euros. These new stations will be added to its existing EV charging network across 44 service stations.
The expansion of our charging comes as a support for the Irish government’s decarbonization plans, but it also means that EV drivers across Ireland can travel at ease” said Andreas Atkins, Ionity’s manager for UK and Ireland.
