Tesla has started charging for the color paint option for Model S and X in the U.S. and Canada, which have been free in the past or less in the past.

According to the information the stealth gray paint is included in both of these models and the rest of them are priced as the following:

  • Deep Blue – $1,500
  • Solid Black – $1,500
  • Ultra Red – $2,500

Canada (CAD):

  • Pearl White – CAD 2,000
  • Deep Blue – CAD  2,000
  • Solid Black – CAD 2,000
  • Ultra Red – CAD 3,300

Last year, Tesla made all of the color options for the same price tags except for the Ultra Red at $3,000. However, the company made these colors free of cost in September.

Earlier this month, Tesla also introduced Stealth Gray and Ultra Red paints in Model Y in North America. The stealth gray is free for the vehicle but the Ultra Red costs an extra $2,000.

However, customers who want a $7,500 Federal tax credit must buy the Model X Long Range with Sealth Gray paint and 20-inch Cyberstream Wheels. This will keep the purchase price at $79,990 and the addition of any paint or wheel option will cross the IRA’s MSRP limit of $80,000.
