xAI launches standalone Grok chatbot website
xAI has officially launched the new Grok standalone website for this generative AI chatbot. You can visit this URL and start asking questions to get answers and do a lot more.
Recently, the company has released a standalone mobile app for iOS users allowing users to experience the chatbot via a dedicated user interface other than X web or mobile app. However, the standalone website is also aiming for a more custom approach.
You can open the website, which may require you to put the date of birth. Once entered, you can start using the chatbot right away with some limitations.
You cannot use the attach feature, which is only available to authenticated users. You can do this by permitting your X account to the website or Gmail account. The company has also enabled email sign for this authentication, in case you don’t have an X or Gmail account.
After signing up, the bot will remember your chat history and you can also buy a premium plan for increased access.
UI
After login, you will see the home screen with an input bar with an attachment, a reply selection, and a send button.
With attach you can send any file to the chatbot for visual analysis, and ask questions based on your upload. For example, Grok can analyze an image with added questions about a certain trait in that uploaded image.
That’s one example of the attach feature, which also expands to PDFs, memes, pictures, diagrams, and more.
The second button has Auto, Visualize, Search, and Model Only response modes.
- Auto – It automatically selects the best output mode based on the content
- Visualize – Display results as images generated by the model
- Search – Show search results with web snippets, X posts, and link
- Model Only – Provides raw responses from AI model, without any assistance from tools like search and image generation
Similar to their names, Grok will reply specifically with these modes.
Account manager
On the top right side of the screen, you will find Account Settings, which will come with account data, sessions, and security options as well as an API console for developers.
The Grok standalone website is currently available for limited countries and available under beta testing.
