AI company xAI has recently rolled out new features for Grok generative AI chatbot and here are the details of all new additions including the following.
- Long context
- Image understanding
- web search results
- Inline citations to sources
- Grok Analysis (summarize conversation and understand posts)
- PDF upload
Long context
This enables users to experience improved performance in processing large information, complex text, program codes, and more.
Image understanding
The multi-modal is now in action with the Grok 2 model family and allows the users to upload a picture or screenshot.
With that, the chatbot can explain the uploaded image and its content whether it’s a diagram, code, instructions, or anything else.

Web search results
This is one of the biggest additions to the chatbot allowing the bot to take information from the internet alongside X. The information taken from these web articles will be combined in the response and also mentioned as sources alongside X posts. You can click these links to redirect to the source or X posts.

Analysis
It has added a new feature to analyze X posts and show results for conversations between X users or a thread. Furthermore, you can share the conversation from a point.
You can now analyze large PDF documents with up to 5 MB file limit at a time. Once uploaded, you can ask the chatbot to explain any part of the PDF or generate a new answer based on its content.
The company has plans to expand the file limit to a higher size.

Focus mode
To improve the conversation, xAI team has rolled out a new Focus Mode, which will hide the left-hand menu to provide a distraction-free experience.
Developers are working on new features, which will rollout soon to users.
