Watch Polaris Dawn crew spacewalk from SpaceX Dragon
SpaceX and Polaris Dawn have performed the first-ever commercial spacewalk in orbit, boosting the private space industry to a new level.
The Dragon spacecraft led the mission with four human crewmates including Mission Commander Jared Isaacman, Pilot Kidd Poteet, Specialist Sarah Gillis, and Medical Officer Anna Menon.
These were wearing SpaceX-designed Extravehicular Activity suite with new optimizations made to flexibility and movement in a vacuum. The suits had access to pure oxygen ahead of suite leak checks. The oxygen provided cooling to the crew throughout the spacewalk.
After the leak check, the crew completed cabin venting, followed by the hatch opening process. Right after.

Isaacman was the first to step outside the Dragon through skywalker to show us the first view of Earth. He performed numerous suit mobility tests including one and two-hand movement. That includes first-hand movement and the second-hand simulating tools use.
He concluded his test term with vertical movement and foot restraint. Next up, Sarah Gillis, who also performed several EVA suite test maneuvers. The spacewalk remained in action for more than 1 hour and 45 minutes.
With this achievement, the data received from the spacewalk and its effect on the Polaris Dawn crew will help SpaceX to conduct planetary missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond with the Starship reusable rocket.
