Watch Boeing Starliner parachute deployment and touchdown [Video]
Boeing Starliner has achieved a touchdown milestone and completed its 90-day extended stay at the International Space Station.
The spacecraft was undocked from the space station on Friday, September 6 with separation confirmed at 6:04 p.m. Eastern Time.
With its entrance to Earth’s atmosphere, the spacecraft followed the following landing phases:
- Forward Heat Shield Jettison
- Drogue Parachute Deployment
- Main Parachute Deployment
- Rotation Handle Release
- Base Heat Shield Jettison
- Airbag Inflation
- Landing
A safe landing was confirmed at 12:01 a.m. Eastern time on Saturday, September 7 (10:01 p.m. Mountain time, on Friday, September 6) at White Sands Space Harbor at the U.S. Army’s White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.
After touchdown, the spacecraft will be transported to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, where Boeing teams will analyze its mission data.
