Volkswagen started testing ID.2 electric car

Volkswagen has started testing its new ID.2 electric car and visuals of the test have appeared in spy shots coming from Nurburgring, Germany.

Carscoops has shared the images saying that the car has been spotted in the ID.3 body with new modifications. Inspection on the side revealed a charging port on the passenger side of the front fender. On the other hand, the ID.3 brings a charging port on the rear right.

There’s not much to explore from the design side but there are some adjustments made to the wheelbase in this new vehicle.

Last year, Volkswagen revealed the ID.2 concept to the public and announced that this EV would launch in 2025 with a starting price of 25,000 euros ($27,700).

Head of Design at Volkswagen Passenger Cars, AndreasMindt said in June that the design process of ID.2 is completed and now preparing for the production preparations. In the meantime, the German car company is working on enhancements to make this car as perfect as the concept.

This EV will use a modular electric drive (MEB) platform and bring a four-wheel drivetrain. Its motor can output 166kW/226 PS and accelerate 0-100 km/h acceleration in 7 seconds.

The car has a top speed of 160km/h and its dimensions are 4,050mm in length, 1,812mm in width, 1,530mm in height, and 2,600mm in wheelbase/

The model has 490 to 1330-liter storage volumes with 225/40 R20 wheels. The EV will deliver about 450 km WLTP range and fast charging to charge 10 to 80% capacity in 20 minutes.

Several other smart car features will be added to improve passenger safety and enhance the driving experience.
