AI firm xAI has announced Grok 2 and Grok 2 mini models and announced a collaboration with Black Forest Labs for the FLUX.1 model. This model plays a major role in the new Grok version to generate AI images.

Earlier this month, Black Forest Labs announced a generative AI research community with advanced deep-learning models for media such as images and videos.

The company also released Flux.1, a suite of models to enable text-to-image capability. FLUX.1 suite has three models – Pro, Dev, and Schnell.

These models are based on a hybrid architecture of multimodal and parallel diffusion transformer blocks and scaled to 12 billion parameters.

The company has built flo matching to improve accuracy. This method enables training generative models with diffusion. Black Forest Lab has also increased model performance and improved hardware efficiency by integrating rotary positional embeddings and parallel attention layers.

FLUX.1 is said to produce high-quality images compared to Midjourney v6.0, DALL-E 3 (HD), and SD3-Ultra with visual quality, prompt following, size/aspect variability, typography, and output diversity.

This model family is fine-tuned to preserve output diversity from pertaining. Furthermore, the FLUX.1 model supports a range of different aspect ratios and resolutions from 0.1MP and 2.0 megapixels. The model allows users to create images with a wide range of descriptions.
