Apple will launch a new Mac Mini computer with the smallest form factor reports Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

Introduced in 2005, the Mac Mini comes as a compact desktop computer without a keyboard, mouse, or display. The company enabled this product to be more space-efficient than the iMac.

Soon after, the company transitioned Mini to Intel processors and throughout the years, it has received many new design and feature-specific changes.

The new Mac Mini uses Apple silicon and runs an M-series chipset for optimum performance and energy efficiency. The current generation of Mac Mini has two variants with M2 and M2 Pro chipsets.

Talking about size, the latest Mini measures 1.14 inches (3.58 cm) in height, 7.75 inches (19.70 cm) in width, and 7.75 inches (19.70 cm) in depth. The M2 version weighs 2.6 pounds (1.18 kg) and the M2 Pro version adds 0.2 pounds at 1.28 kg.

Gurman said that the company has revamped its Mac Mini and will be less than half the size of the current gen model. This new product will be a part of Apple’s design refresh strategy, which will apply to all ecosystem devices. He mentioned that the new design could be identical to Apple TV set-top box.

The Apple TV has a 3.66-inch (93mm) width and height, and a 1.2-inch (33mm) thickness. The TV box weighs 208 grams for the Wi-Fi-only model and 214 grams for the Wi-Fi + Ethernet model.

These statistics make the TV box less than half of the size of the Mini. If Apple cuts down to this size, it could create the world’s smallest computer. Not only that, the Cupertino-based tech company is also planning to provide a power boost for Mac Mini with a new M4 series chipset with AI features.

Gurman also revealed that Apple could launch this smallest Mac Mini by the end of this year.
