Tesla Optimus vs Figure 2

Tesla Optimus Engineer Milan Kovac posted a video on social media site X comparing the new AI robot Figure 2 with Optimus.

On Tuesday, August 6, Figure revealed a second-generation humanoid robot with design and autonomy improvements. The characteristics of this bot come as competition against Optimus, Tesla’s humanoid robot.

With that being said, Kovac has shared a short video of a comparison between Optimus and Figure 2 in terms of their current key aspects.

It compares the design, walk cycles, self-correction training, and hand design. Also, the purpose of the video suggests that Optimus has learned all of these moves before they arrive in this new Figure bot.

The Optimus engineer has quoted this video on a meme “Look at me, I am the captain now” posted by Brett Adcock, founder and CEO of Figure Robotics.

Adcock was replying to Tesla CEO, Elon Musk on the partnership between OpenAI and Figure. Musk wrote “Challenge Accepted” but the post no longer exists.

However, Kovac later added a comment beneath his post “And jokes aside, lot of respect for the engineering team doing the work at @Figure_robot. As an engineer, I know how challenging the journey is.”

The AI bot company is a serious challenge to Tesla, as it continues to enrage research and development. Figure 2 is a major improvement than the first version and the company has also deployed a few test models to the BMW manufacturing plant.

Meanwhile, Figure has not revealed plans to bring the robot to public any time soon.
