Tesla CEO, Elon Musk has officially come up with a reason behind the delay of the upcoming Robotaxi unveiling event. This showcase was originally planned for August 8 via an earlier date but not pushed to a new timeline.

A previous report suggests that the electric vehicle (EV) company has postponed the event to October which adds two months to the earlier date. However, the delay is directly linked to some new improvements to the prototype.

“Requested what I think is an important design change to the front, and extra time allows us to show off a few other things.” wrote Musk on Monday on social media site X.

However, Musk didn’t share specifics about the new changes in design or the features. These new upgrades or improvements in design might be coming to impress investors.

Robotaxi is the future of public transport and big automakers are already pursuing this field to gain an edge over each other. GM’s Cruise and Alphabet’s Waymo are the two leading examples. However, full autonomy is still far ahead of any company’s reach.

Speaking of Tesla, it has been leading in the EV business for a long time but never attempted to build a robotaxi. Therefore, it will be a challenge to bring up its EV charm to a new segment.

But, it has been digging deep into the self-driven with its Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology. This is a core driving force to all of the robotaxis and Tesla is building a new data center for large-scale autonomous driving operations across its fleet.

That includes robotaxis but there’s not much information available about Tesla’s strategy around a Robotaxi. The design and other details around the Robotaxi are yet to unveil but there’s more information waiting at the event.
