Upgraded Tesla Model Y may not launch until next year but an alleged image of the car has now surfaced on Reddit to show a few new design changes.

User @JacklJack posted a photograph on Reddit on Sunday including a Tesla EV with front and rear covers. The user revealed that the car was parked around Rose Bowl, California.

The covers are there to hide the front and rear changes and we’ve seen similar secrecy before the Upgraded Model 3 unveiling. However, the gates are exposed and there’s not much to see in that area as it looks identical to the existing Model Y.

The front looks new and some upgrades have been made to the facia. Overall, the appearance is not too much different from the on-sale Model Y, still the cover is hiding all secrets.

Earlier this year, Tesla introduced an upgraded Model 3. This variant brings a sleek front with new headlights and better aerodynamics. The rear side also has new taillights.

Model Y is the most popular EV on the planet and the company is keen on improving this car with new changes. Last year, Reuters reported that Tesla is planning a Model Y refresh and the project is codenamed “Juniper”.

In late December, Bloomberg also shared that this model will start production around mid-2024. It has optimized wheels, ambient lighting, and ventilated seats. The first production could start at Tesla Shanghai Factory and the company is preparing for larger quantity output for the market.

Usually, the EV company releases new models from Asia to Europe and then North America. This roadmap may also apply to the upcoming Model Y.

Meanwhile, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the Upgraded Model Y will not be released this year. On the other hand, he didn’t say anything about next year either.
