This year’s Apple Watch Series will mark the 10th anniversary of the product segment and Series 10 codename as well as information has now surfaced to hype its launch.

At the time of the iPhone 10, Apple rebranded the device as “X” (for that model). It brought a new edge-to-edge display and notch to the smartphone industry. However, the company skipped the iPhone 9 to celebrate the anniversary with the same iPhone version.

While focusing on upgrades, the next-gen Apple Watch will have increased screen size and enhanced thickness. These two aspects will be visible in two new models but may not be completely different from Series 9.

An alleged render leak shows a rectangular frame with round edges with the aesthetics of the predecessor. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has revealed that Series 10 will have two models with codenames N217 and N218.

The Watch Series 10 will come in 45mm and 49mm sizes. The Series 9 watches offer 41mm and 45mm wrist sizes, therefore, the new upgrade will make the screen pop up even more on the larger version.

Specifically, the 49mm watch could equip a 2-inch screen, larger than the Watch Ultra 2. On the other hand, the Ultra 3 may not get major changes except for a few tweaks in design and color variants.

These models will get new chipsets to improve performance and Gurman shared a possibility for adding some AI features. However, Series 10 might not be able to run Apple Intelligence for the time being, at least not until next year.

New generative AI features will land first on iPhones, iPads, and Mac devices later this year. Apple Supply Chain analyst Ming Chi-Kuo said Apple plans to use 3D printing technology to produce the watch’s frame components.

This tech was considered with Watch Series 9 but it failed to meet the quality requirement. The Watch Series 10 could launch alongside the iPhone 16 this fall.
