Lucid Motors today shared its earning results and the company also teased its new Tesla Model Y competitor which is slated to go into production in 2026.

During the Q1 2024 earning call, Lucid announced it is working on a midsize platform. Although there is no information about the specifications, the production of these products is scheduled for late 2026.

The company also released a teaser image of the product showing a car with an SUV-style fascia. It is labeled as “High-Volume Midsize SoP”.

It means that the image teaser might be for showcase because the standard of production doesn’t imply a specific car size. Standard production cars are those manufactured in large quantities for the general market compared to limited custom edition vehicles.

While the identity of this electric vehicle (EV) remained uncertain, CEO Peter Rawlinson said that this model will be a Model Y competitor. That’s a niche aim for the platform as Model Y is the current best-selling car and a benchmark in the EV industry.

It could also mean that Lucid will make this model cheaper than the current luxurious price tags it’s offering with Lucid Air. With production slated for 2026, we may see Lucid unveiling this Tesla Model Y competitor in 2025 but there’s no confirmation available.
