Apple to showdown M4 iPad with AI on May 7
Apple is set to launch a new series of iPad tablets during the May 7 event and there’s a bigger picture of this launch because the 2024 iPads will come with an M4 chipset.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple will introduce the M4 chipset with the new iPad early next month. These will be the first products to equip this new chip other than MacBooks and iMac later this year.
The new chip will help Apple to reshape its portfolio from productivity to AI devices. Gurman reveals that the M4 series will bring a powerful Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to accompany AI features. The report suggests that the top-of-the-line 2024 iPad Pro will be the one to host the M4 chip and not the M3.
Apple will host the May 7 event and the recent teaser suggests, the company will organize this online-only conference to reveal the next generation of iPad tablets.
This year, Apple has dedicated its workforce to bringing new AI technologies into its device ecosystem. Therefore, the new iPad will lay down a roadmap that will lead us to a wider picture at the annual World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) in June.
M4 chip will enable the Cupertino-based tech company to use on-device AI and boost native features. There are reports that Apple is engaging in conversation with Google and OpenAI to use their cloud-based Large Language Model (LLM). These new integrations will be reflected in the new iPadOS 18 at WWDC24.
