Tesla CEO hypes pure AI FSD with full in-house solutions

Tesla has been improving Full Self Driving (FSD) to rollout an unsupervised version, but after years of development, this technology is still not there, amid that, CEO, Elon Musk has said a pure AI solution will soon be coming to FSD.
FSD is designed to drive a vehicle autonomously in public, react to other vehicle movement, take turns, check on-road obstacles, detect pedestrians and more. However, the current version requires a human to monitor the car’s movement.
Last year, Tesla has laid out a plan to bring unsupervised FSD that will be used for ride-hailing. This technology will initially be available with Model 3 and Model Y in Texas and California, followed by other markets.
These cars will be equipped with Tesla’s vision system, which is quite controversial for the regulators as they prefer Lidar superior due to its ability to map the traffic and depth compared to vision, which is based on camera imagery.

But years of testing has collected a massive amount of driving data on Tesla’s vision hardware to improve it for public driving. This is due to the software, which has been trained through different scenarios and traffic conditions across the U.S. using the same camera system.
Musk also said that the pure AI for FSD will include Tesla chipset. This will be an essential to perform real-time computing and analysis of all the live input data from the on-board cameras, then process them together to generate a right feedback and self-drive on the road. A custom chipset could enable the company to get more control over the data and specific instructions for self-driving.
Tesla CEO has not shared any timeline to launch this pure AI solution rollout for FSD, but we aren’t expecting it to be released anytime soon.
