Tesla CEO says unsupervised FSD is on track for June launch

Tesla CEO, Elon Musk said unsupervised FSD is on track to launch in June in Austin. His remarks came during a Q&A session at a rally in Wisconsin.
FSD, Full Self Driving, is an autonomous driving technology for Tesla vehicles, designed to automatically drive through traffic, react to other vehicles’ maneuvers, take turns, detect pedestrians and more.
However, the current form of the technology requires a human driver in the front seat and monitor the car’s movement. The driver should be ready to take the steering wheel when needed.
Tesla has been hyping the concept of unsupervised FSD for years but last year, the EV company introduced its first dedicated vehicle with this autonomous tech — Cybercab.
This is a new vehicle built from the ground for ride-sharing services, including a single row, a larger leg space and no steering wheel. The vehicle has a huge area for customers to store luggage.
This is the first out of the production line vehicle with FSD capabilities, but that will take more than a year to take on the market. According to Lars Moravy, VP vehicle engineering at Tesla, a prototype production line is already installed at Giga Texas and expecting first test production in Summer this year.
That brings us to the next part, mass production, with ongoing preparations, the company could jump into final production in the first half of 2026.
Before that, Tesla will use its existing fleet to enable ride-hailing services in Austin, Texas. Model Y, Model 3 are the top-rated passenger vehicles that will kick-start Tesla’s journey into this segment and will receive heavy customization to pick passengers from one place and deliver them to their destination.
A dedicated app is also planned to give users access to plan their journey and more. These vehicles will also use Unsupervised FSD to provide services starting June in Austin and expand to other US states.
