Giga Berlin aims to produce 5K new Model Ys per week

Tesla is planning to produce 5,000 new Model Ys per week at Giga Berlin in a growing effort to improve the production and meet with the demand.
The company has already prepared for a large-scale production, Andre Thierig, Senior Director of Manufacturing at Giga Berlin revealed in an interview Faz, a German newspaper.
By the end of January, the EV maker announced the start of the new Model Y at Giga Berlin. The company published a video showing this vehicle coming out of the assembly line.
The new Model Y brings numerous design upgrades, including a facelift. The front has a lightbar, which looks stylish and makes the car look different from its predecessor.
It has a distinctive cross-car lamp on the rear side with reflective lighting. Inside, the vehicle has ambient lighting, comfortable seats, powered rear seats and a separate 8-inch touch screen for passengers.
This model is currently on sale in Europe and initial customers already received the first set of deliveries. However, the company is working on an expansion in production capacity.
Andre said the company achieved the 5,000 per week production last year and aims to get back to that level in 2025.
He also answered some questions about only slight increase to more than 210,000 units production in 2024 compared to 200,000 produced in 2023.
Andre explained that Tesla dealt with numerous issues in the past year, including the attacks by Yemeni Houthi rebels on the shipping route through the Red Sea and Suez Canal.
That also includes an arson attack on Giga Berlin’s power supply and other challenges. However, Giga Berlin team has a chance to grow further in this segment.
