Tesla is preparing to roll out a new Cybercab once in every 5 seconds from the production line, says the company CEO, Elon Musk, who mentioned that the company currently rolls off a new Model Y once in every 35 seconds.

Last year, Tesla announced plans to introduce ride-hailing services with autonomous vehicles in the US using Cybercab. An autonomous vehicle that is designed especially for this task from the ground.

Its design is inspired by all existing models including Model Y, Cybertruck, Model 3, but it serves a sole purpose is to provide comfort and safety for passengers.

The vehicle has only a single row and a large cabin with a flat floor, no paddles or steering wheel. The rear side has a large cargo space for passengers to put their luggage.

The cabin only has a large screen to offer destination and ride details, as well as entertainment.

This minimized design and no manual driving makes the vehicle compact for production. That means, the company will only have to focus on the computer system that will drive this vehicle to take instructions, pick up and self-drive the passengers to their destinations.

That won’t be a bigger task because Tesla already has features FSD computers in regular vehicles. So, it presumably solved the manufacturing part and the reduction of rear seats and the driving system likely to have a major impact on the Cybercab’s production time over Model Y, a driver – oriented model.

Speaking of production, Tesla has already set up a prototype production line at the Giga Texas, and it’s preparing to bring the first set of Cybercab models in Summer this year. After tests, the company could fix the design flaws and start final production in early 2026.
