Tesla Charging Chief, Max De Zegher has announced his company is aiming a public availability for 500kW Superchargers starting Q3 2025 for super high-speed charging.

Last year, Tesla announced the V4 cabinet capable of delivering 500kW for cars and 1.2MW for Semi trucks.

This cabinet supports 400V to 1000V vehicle architectures including a 30% increase for Cybertruck’s charging capacity. Meanwhile, Model 3, Y, S, and X can charge at a 250kW rate similar to the V3 cabinet.

In January, Tesla completed the 325kW V4 posts rollout for Cyebrtruck in the US. The company has released support for this increased capacity in one and a half months after announcing the rollout started.

The V4 cabinets increase the deployment, which powers 8 posts, 2x the stalls per cabinet. Its low footprint and complexity will the company to enable more sites to come online in a reduced time.

To simplify its deployment, Tesla has improved its internal components including power electronics with 3 times improvements in power density for high throughput at lower costs.

“Engineering is working weekends on it, aiming for first pilot sites in Q3,” wrote Max de Zegher on X.

He also revealed an interesting fact about the price efficiency, saying that a new 500kW stall could be installed for less than $40,000, contributed by the new hardware and technologies.

Initially, the company will run a few testing sites to commence the pilot program and then it will open these new sites to all Tesla owners with supported vehicles as well as NACS partners.
