SpaceX Falcon 9 lifting off from launch pad

On January 24, 2025, SpaceX launches a new Falcon 9 rocket with a payload containing 23 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit. The liftoff was conducted from Space Launch Complex 4 East at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

The company utilized the first launch window at 6:07 a.m. PT to ignite the 9 Merlin engines and take off from the pad.

The liftoff went according to the plan and called for hot staging where it separated the first and second stages. After boostback burn, the first stage maneuvered back to Earth for a droneship landing in the Pacific Ocean.

SpaceX has advised one or more sonic boom advisories for the residents of Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties.
