xAI Grok gets sports, finance and location-based widgets features
xAI has released a major feature package update for Grok, allowing users to see enhanced sports, finance, and location-based results.
Grok is a large language model (LLM) chatbot designed and developed by xAI. It was initially integrated into social media site X, formerly Twitter.
It can answer your questions, generate images with realistic visuals, search web results, and analyze images or PDFs. The company has recently released the Grok iOS app and a standalone website for a separate user experience.
The latest additions will make it more useful.
Sports
You can now search for a player, league, and stats with a simple prompt such as “What’s the score in the Warriors game?”. This prompt will show a scorecard with both teams and live scores with some other information.
You can go deeper into the real-time scores, league standings, and upcoming games across major sports leagues using a simple Grok prompt like “Warriors”.
You will see a card with an upcoming matchup. From here you can see Games and Standings to separate information with just a click.
Furthermore, you can ask the chatbot specific questions such as “Who hit the most home runs in 2024?” The bot will return complete statistics.
xAI has announced that NBA, MLB, NHL, NFL, and EPL are also coming soon.
Upcoming
Soon, Grok will fetch real-time news updates on company fundamentals and generate an analysis between stocks and cryptocurrencies. You can go for a prompt such as “Compare and analyze TSLA and APPL’s recent performance”.
Here you will see a dedicated search result customized for these kinds of searches including a wide range of information about the companies and their performances in different timelines.
Another good functionality to this chatbot is coming as location search, you can ask Grok to get you a restaurant in a specific location. For example “Show me the best restaurants near Bleecker Street in New York City”. This will show you a widget with a map and locations with names and reviews.
