xAI Grok standalone iOS app launched in the US

xAI has launched the Grok standalone app for iOS users in the US. The app was initially available only in a few countries and it’s now extending to a broader user base.

Grok is a large language model (LLM) chatbot from xAI, it can answer your questions, generate images, and provide context for uploaded files. The bot was introduced for X users and made a separate appearance with a standalone app for mobile devices. The app is only available for iOS users and an Android version is yet to come.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, download the app from the App Store. While the app has recently added iPad support, its user experience is limited due to the development pace.

However, iPhone users can get this app at its full capacity. The app supports X account login, Apple ID, and other email verification. However, you will have to get a premium plan to experience its features.

This process won’t be required for X users with premium subscriptions, and all you need to do is authorize. The user interface has a minimalist design with a prompt bar and a send button. You can start by tapping on pre-set prompts on top of the input area.

Grok app offers similar features to its web version. You can generate photorealistic images based on description. Furthermore, the app will also suggest you some ideas to mix with your image output.

Moreover, the file button in the input area allows you to upload a PDF, image, screenshot, meme, or any supported file for analysis. For example, you can ask Grok to extract a program code out of the diagram.

You can also search news and find web results with source incites for local and internet articles. The xAI has implemented privacy features in Grok for users in all markets including the US, and you can check them in the settings menu.

Still, the app is in an early phase and will continue to receive new features as it gains more stability.
