SpaceX Starship Liftoff

SpaceX is preparing to launch Starship Flight 7 by next week and to hype this new rocket test, the company has shared a Flight 6 recap including its major events.

The video shows the integrated flight at the launch mount waiting for engine ignitions. Right before 33 Raptor engines, the deluge system started spraying water to reduce the ground impact.

The rocket lifts off from Boca Chica Starbase, Texas as the camera angle shows the side of the vehicle as it makes its way toward the orbit. Soon after, the rocket performed hot staging and separated both stages.

Unlike Flight 5, this new test didn’t perform booster catch due to failing to meet the catch parameters. Specifically, the launch tower was damaged during the liftoff as it left the ground and the flight director had to splashdown the booster in the Gulf of Mexico.

On the other hand, the second stage was coasting in sub orbit and providing live views of Earth with Starlink. In the final phase, the Starship reentered Earth’s atmosphere to test the vehicle’s heat shield tiles and thermal system.

For this flight, the company has changed the launch time to observe Starship’s splashdown. The recap also shows the last engine burn and vertical splashdown in the Indian Ocean.
