Tesla FSD v12.6

Tesla has started rolling Full Self Driving (FSD) v12.6 for Hardware 3 (AI3) vehicles and it comes with a big changelog containing redesigned controller. This new software release is part of 2024.45.25.10 firmware and rolling for limited users. However, it will soon expand to more AI3 cars.

For the past two month, Tesla have been testing FSD V13 but it’s limited to HW4 (AI4) platform. The reason for this limited availability has concerned their eligibility to get v13 but the EV maker has shown no sign of release to date.

This release delay is related to the hardware limitation and safety standard required to run version 13. That said, Tesla CEO, Elon Musk previously said that these cars would be tested with v13 and could receive a free hardware upgrade if they don’t meet the parameters to run v13.

In the meantime, the FSD v12.6 will come with the following changes.

  • End to End on Highway
  • Improved City Streets
Behavior, which reduces false slowdowns and improves obstacle avoidance
  • Customizable Speed Profiles, which apply to roads and highways with 50mph (80kph) or higher speed limit
  • Earlier and more natural lane change decisions
  • Redesigned controller for smoother, more accurate tracking
  • Max Speed Update, where Autopilot determines the suitable speed within your allowed limit

This update is limited to a few users and its expansion to users may take some time.
