SpaceX Falcon 9 launches SES 03b mPOWER to orbit

SpaceX has launched a new Falcon 9 rocket from California with SES 03b mPOWER mission to medium Earth orbit from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The company has lifted off the Falcon 9 launch vehicle claiming the first launch opportunity.

The 03b mPOWER is SES’s second-generation medium earth orbit (MEO) system located 8,000km above Earth. So far, SES has launched six out of 13 03B mPOWER high-throughput and low-latency satellites and has built an extensive ground infrastructure around the globe.

In April 2024, the company started operational capacity for 03b mPOWER constallation to provide satellite connectivity services.

These satellites work in combination with SES’s MEO and geostationary networks as well as access to low Earth orbit solutions with strategic partnerships.

SpaceX used a fresh booster for this flight and after stage separation, the first stage maneuvered back to the Earth and exhausted the final burn in order to land on a droneship stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.
