xAI launches Aurora image generator for Grok, bringing realistic details
Generative AI company, xAI has launched Aurora, a new image generator model for Grok AI chatbot and garnering immense interest across X (formerly Twitter) social media platform.
Aurora is part of the Grok 2 suit and the company has put this into the model selector. Back in August, xAI announced a collaboration with Black Forest Labs to use their Flux image generator model for the Grok 2 series.
Since then, the Grok 2 model family has been offering generative image features thanks to Flux model capabilities. Despite greater flexibility and vibrant results, the model still lacked details in results for sophisticated descriptions.
For example, it can give you image results but not what you want it to generate.
On the other hand, this new model is on a whole new level. xAI has done some serious work on Aurora as an image generator and the results from this model are outstanding.
I’ve generated an image of Elon Musk, the founder of xAI and the image is shockingly realistic as it was captured with a camera. This realism is shared across all images generated with the Aurora model.
Users who want to test Aurora can jump into the model selector on top of the Grok screen. Here you will see Grok 2 or Grok 2 + Aurora. The default Grok 2 will still use the Flux model but is still in beta.
Generative AI images are quite popular for social media and personal use cases. However, this addition will improve Grok’s competitiveness against OpenAI’s ChatGPT and other generative AI tools.
Interestingly, the new Aurora generator is available for paid and free X users. Therefore, you can hop on X.com or the mobile app and enter Grok to use the new generative AI image capability at full capacity.
