Tesla has officially launched the Tesla app for Apple Watch, allowing users to interact with the car directly from the wrist and access key features.

The company has shared the first look at the watch app and how it will function.

This launch fulfills a major request from customers who want an accessible car key without carrying a smartphone. This also relates to the scenario when the EV owner unfortunately loses their smartphone.

Therefore, the Apple Watch app will work as a phone key, which you can use to unlock the car. However, the app offers more functionality.

It will show you the lock/unlock status on the top right, and the EV model name in the top middle. It has some settings on the top left and the car’s render in the center. Furthermore, you can see the EV’s status below the vehicle’s image.

Moreover, the EV’s range will be shown in the mid-bottom including a range bar and estimated miles.

There are two buttons, one on the left can be used to open Frunk, and the other on the right enables climate control. That sums up the app’s core features.

Tesla App

Tesla already has a mobile app for both Android and iOS users. The app provides essential features but more than that it has various other utilities to help manage the car including subscriptions, charging payment, navigation, and more.

Besides cars, the app can manage the house’s energy statics and other connected Tesla products. It’s very unlikely that these features will arrive in the smartwatch app and will be limited to only the phone key.
