Tesla announces 2024 Holiday Update: Check 19 new features and changes
Electric vehicle (EV) maker Tesla has announced the 2024 Holiday Update with new features enabling better user experience including a new smartwatch app and more.

2024 Tesla Holiday Update (Credit – Tesla)
Apple Watch App
After months of speculations and waiting, Tesla has officially announced the Apple Watch app for users. This app will turn the Apple Watch into a car key with features such as battery range, open frunk, and turn on climate control.
Save Dashcam and Sentry Mode Clip to phone
You can watch and save dashcam and sentry mode footage into your smartphone. This will let you share the clip with your contacts.
Autoshift between Drive and Reverse
Model 3 owners can Autoshift to automatically shift between Drive and Reverse to handle parking lot maneuvers and multi-point turns.
SiriusXM
Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck owners can now download the SiriusXM broadcasting app.
Set arrival Energy at the Destination
This feature will set the preferred battery charge level with on-screen charging stops and duration based on your settings.
Search Along Route with Estimated Detour Times
You will see search results sorted options alongside route and estimated detour times in the navigation screen.
Precipitation Map and Weather at Destination
You can view precipitation on the map to check the weather at your destination.
Rear Cross Traffic Alert
Your vehicle will show an alert if it detects a pedestrian or vehicle crossing behind you in reverse mode. The car will ring a sound warning if a cross-traffic object is detected.
Custom wraps for Cyebrtruck
You can now improve Cybertruck’s avatar personalization with a custom wrap and license plate. Pick any new pre-set or create and upload custom designs from a USB drive.
Rear Camera Improvements
This update will enlarge the rear camera feed with zoom-in and zoom-out features.
TuneIn
While providing free services, you can experience better TuneIn Radio with this 2024 Holiday update.
Rear Arcade
Cybertruck owners can play games from the backseat while the semi-truck cruises on the road.
Cybertruck Santa Mode
The new Santa Mode turns your Cybertruck avatar into Santa’s sleigh with reindeer, elves, and more.
Schedule Light Show
You can now remotely schedule light shows from the Tesla app including the two new Light Shows in this new firmware.
Boomerang Fu
Boomerang Fu is now available with some action-packed sequences for Tesla EVs.
Fart on contact
You can now add more fun to your with the new “Fart on Contact” option in the Emissions setting. This will trigger a fart sound when a passenger sits on the seat.
Adjust the Passenger Seat from the Controls
The new seat control panel enables you to adjust the position of the unoccupied passenger seat including second-row.
Maintenance Summary
Meanwhile, maintenance summary allows you to view and track items from your vehicle’s touchscreen.
Other Updates
- The rear screen remote now allows video playback controls in the Drive
- Find Nearby Parking at your destination or any point of interest
- When reversing, the music volume can automatically lower to reduce distractions
- Navigation will dynamically route around road closures
- Sentry Mode – mobile app notification if the door handle is pulled
- Energy App Consumption page for Model S & X and CT
- Vehicles without premium connectivity can now see traffic on their navigation route
- When navigating to a Supercharger, upon arrival you will be notified on the touchscreen of any stalls that are currently out of service
Availability
Tesla has confirmed that the 2024 Holiday update will be available over the air starting next week. However, its rollout could be available anytime soon.
