xAI to launch a standalone Grok app next month: WSJ
AI company xAI is preparing to launch its standalone Grok chatbot app as soon as next month says a new report from Wall Street Journal.
The new launch shows xAI’s growing efforts to catch up with competitors including OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and more. Also, this app will be available for all users like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.
It was revealed the company is likely to top for all platforms including iOS, Android, and MacOS users.
Launched in November last year, Grok is a generative AI chatbot. It uses large language models (LLMs) to answer the user with a variety of information from X and the web. Speaking of which, it is exclusively available on X with a premium subscription.
Users can access it on web and mobile versions with two reply modes – default and Fun mode. The first answers with formally and the second follows its name.
Since last year, xAI has made huge progress in computing and built the largest Supercomputer in Memphis with more than 100,000 Nvidia H100s GPU.
This helped the company run edge to edge with its competitors and train new models to launch in the near future.
Furthermore, xAI is also hiring new talent to grow its team to develop new technologies. Over the last two weeks, the Grok developers have added numerous capabilities.
It has a generative Image feature that is more popularized in the AI trend. Users can input the description and the bot will generate an image in a few seconds.
The bot supports file upload to explain visual content including images and screenshots. It can also help users understand the content with extensive information such as diagrams and memes.
For now, xAI has not made any statement on launching a standalone Grok app. Meanwhile, we have other additions to check in our Grok archive and learn more about them.
