Tesla launches $1k discount on Model Y in China

Tesla has announced a promotional $1k discount on Model Y variants in China to boost sales as it continues to increase vehicle registration in the country.

In a post on the Chinese social media site Weibo, Tesla confirmed customers opting for the Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and Long Range Model Y will get RMB 10,000 ($1,380) off from the final purchase.

However, the offer is only valid from November 25 to December 31. Therefore, the customer must take the delivery before the end of this year.

The company has three Model Ys listed on the configurator including:

• RWD with a 554km range at RMB 249,900
• Long Range AWD with 688 km range – RMB 290,900
• Performance with 615km range – RMB 354,900

The discount is available for the above two variants excluding the performance. Meanwhile, the same offer is not available for Model 3, which also has three models in China starting at RMB 231,900.

Aside from this, the company has also extended the 5-year 0% interest rate financing for another month. It initially rolled out this plan in April, which kept expanding since then.

The current extension will end on November 30 and will be available until December 31.
