Tesla FSD v12.5.6.2 rolling wide with end-to-end highway
Tesla is now sending Full Self Driving (FSD) v12.5.6.2 for HW4 (AI4) models and this release marks a wide rollout for all of the end-to-end highway capabilities.
In September, the EV maker sent the first FSD update for Cybertruck with the end-to-end highway. However, it was only available to a limited Tesla fleet in the aftermath. Since then Model 3, Y, and the other two EVs have been waiting for a wide rollout.
Last week, the EV maker announced this expansion for all AI4 under its next phase FSD development. With this capability, FSD can better understand city and highway roads and traffic. It will be more confident with lanes, and objects as well as any signs while maintaining speed.
Tesla has been working on this improvement for all EVs for months and combining both software stacks was a challenge due to their separate code. However, it’s finally getting a wide release, which is good news for all Tesla owners.
Other than the end-to-end highway, FSD v12.5.6.2 has new improvements for smooth driving and safety features. In the meantime, we’ll have to wait for user impressions and reviews.
Chimes
In the past month, Tesla owners reported unnecessary weather notification chimes striking their FSD experience. These owners requested the Vice President of AI Software Division, Ashok Elluswamy to bring a solution and the AI VP has announced a fix with V12.5.6.2.
The previous announcement said similar improvements for FSD as “less annoying bad weather notifications”. However, there’s no mention of such improvement in the changelog.
FSD 12.5.6.1
Late last month, Tesla pushed this update for limited users and it comes with new refinements for summon capabilities that include:
- A pause for public and highway roads
- Improvements for blocked camera aborts
- Reduction in false positive collision mitigation aborts
- Improved dumb summon behavior at curbs
- Added custom/fart competition sounds
Now these summon upgrades are also bundled in this new FSD release. Tesla FSD v12.5.6.2 update is rolling out in batches and it may take some time to get to your Tesla vehicle.
