How to change iPhone’s language to US English for Apple Intelligence

The first wave of Apple Intelligence features is rolling out and you will need to change your iPhone’s language to US English to get the new AI suite onboard.

Apple Intelligence is part of iOS 18.1 and it’s available to download for the following devices:

  5. iPhone 15 Pro
  6. iPhone 15 Pro Max

Initially, the Apple Intelligence features only supported English US in all regions around the globe. So you will have to switch your device and Siri language.

Change iPhone’s Language

  • Open Settings app
  • Tap on General
  • Select language and Region
  • Tap on “Add Language”
  • Scroll down to find “English (US)”. You can also search for English in the search bar or use the voice control to search and scroll down to the US-specific version.
  • Confirm selection with a tap and set that as a primary language.
  • Now, your device’s language will switch to US English.

Change Siri’s Language

  • Open Settings
  • Go to Apple Intelligence and Siri
  • Tap on Language and select English (United States).

Join Waitlist

To request waitlist approval, go to Settings, and tap Apple Intelligence & Siri, here you can tap “Join the Apple Intelligence Waitlist”.

Early users have received approval within a few minutes and hours. However, the company has been running a long waitlist and it will take a few weeks or so to clear all waitlist enrollments.

Apple will send you notifications once Apple Intelligence is activated on your device.

The new update brings AI writing tools to improve text content, change its tone, proofread, and do more. It can remove unwanted objects from a photograph. You can create memory movies in photos with AI.

priority notification helps you to see what’s important and requires your attention. On the other hand, notifications will appear as a summary on the lock screen. Mail and Messages app now supports smart reply and summary features.
