Tesla introduces connectors to simplify electrical connectivity in EVs

Tesla has released new connectors to simplify electronic device applications and achieve maximum efficiency for electric vehicles (EVs) and all other related device structures.

“A single vehicle typically requires over 200 connections and the number of electrical connectors and types across new vehicles is only increasing.” wrote Tesla while introducing new connectors.

The new connectors implement Low-Voltage Connector Standard (LVCS) to reduce connector types to 6. These 6 device connectors could meet the power and signal requirements for more than 90% of typical electrical device applications.

The EV maker says these new connectors will improve the manufacturing process and electrical connectivity requirements in all EVs.

“This standardization unlocks further operational efficiencies, cost reductions and manufacturing automation,” wrote Tesla.

LVCS furthers 48V electronic architecture used in Cybertruck and improves spacing for 48V operations. It is available in industry-standard light blue. The 48V architecture requires half 1/4 of existing architecture to provide the same amount of power but improved efficiency.

The architecture has single-wire sealing and secondary locking mechanisms beside lower package sizes.
