Tesla is planning to build its largest sales, delivery, and service center with a 163,000 square foot facility in Queens, New York.

This plan has been revealed in the latest lease signed by the EV maker at the build-to-suit manufacturing development in College Point, Queens.

The property is located at 30-02 Whitestone Expressway based on the information found in a third-quarter industrial report from JLL (via Bizjournals).

This site has been previously used by Toys R Us, Party City, and College Point Multiplex Cinemas. The last place owner College Point Multiplex Cinemas closed on May 5, 2024.

The property is owned by Triangle Equities for the past 20 years and cost $9.8 million with the acquisition filed in 2000 based on New York City records. It is also shown that the property has $50 million loan from Centennial Bank in late 2023.

The initial plan was to demolish the site but changed to renovate the property instead. The plan now includes 153,000 square-foot manufacturing and retail development. This new site includes 775 parking spaces.

The documents show Ceso Architecture is developing the site with Triangle Equities to retrofit the former theater and retail structure into a new facility for Tesla.

The demolition would have cost $1.5 million and the conversion will be shaped according to Tesla’s plan for $8 million. This new signing comes after Tesla purchased a 40,000-square-foot Supercharger installation.

Currently, Tesla has not revealed anything about this leasing but we may hear something on this very soon.

On the other hand, the company is planning to open its biggest North American service center to date in Vancouver, British Columbia with 120,000 square feet to serve as delivery, vehicle pre and servicing.

Furthermore, the company may open a 60,000-square-foot service and delivery facility in Port Coquitlam, about 17 miles east of Vancouver.

Meanwhile, this service center in Queens is expected to open in 2025 at the earliest but we’ll have to wait for an official announcement.
