iOS 18.2 running long waitlist for Image Creation, Apple’s Senior VP replies
A few days ago, Apple released iOS 18.2 Beta 1 with a bunch of new Apple Intelligence features but users are still staring at the waitlist to approve Image Creation access.
Image Creation is a generative AI image model suit featured in the latest iOS beta release. It includes new apps and tools:
- Image Playground
- Genmoji
- Image Wand
Image Playground allows you to create images with prompts and pre-set suggestions including traits and appearances. The app interface is simple including the suggestion and prompt bar at the bottom. After feeding your prompt, Image Playground will generate an image and show it on the screen. You always have an option to edit the final results.
Genmoji is part of the messaging app to create new emojis from the keyboard. Tap on the emoji icon at the top right corner of the emoji keyboard and describe the idea for a new emoji. It’s similar to image playground but used for emoji.
Image Wand on the other hand integrated into the Notes app. You have to circle an empty space to create a new image from the text elements of your text note. Or you can also replace the rough sketch with a realistic image.
Waitlist
Access to these new generative AI features goes through a waitlist. You can tap the Image Playground app to see the waitlist screen and request early access. However, developers are now reporting pending approval for a waitlist, which has gained Apple’s attention.
“I appreciate your enthusiasm for testing our new image creation features! What you are experiencing is expected: this is a wait list. We are rolling out access to users on the wait list over the coming weeks.” wrote Craig Federighi, Apple’s Senior Vice President.
So, enrolled iOS 18.2 users will have to wait some time to access Image Creation tools as Apple gradually clears the waitlist.
