Tesla FSD exceeds 2 billion cumulative miles, v12 accounts 50%
Electric Vehicle (EV) maker Tesla has officially announced 2 billion cumulative miles of driving with Full Self Driving (FSD). The company has confirmed that more than 50% of these driving miles are accounted for FSD version 12 fleet.
Late last year, Tesla started testing this new FSD version for internal vehicles, which expanded to selected external users. Earlier this year, the company reached out to AI4 cars to test and drive the latest FSD build.
Since then, the company kept launching new FSD 12 versions with new improvements. improved self-driving training and better controls than its predecessors. The company has brought some new features to FSD users including autopark and smart summon.
It has also optimized the driver monitoring system with this new release for nag-free experiences.
2 Billion Miles
In August, FSD accounted for 1.6 billion cumulative miles. 600 million miles are only driven by the FSD 12 version and the speed of adding these miles is significant compared to the prior version.
With the latest milestone, FSD v12 now accounts for more than 1 billion miles of its own and happened within 12 months.
FSD is still supervised and requires a human driver to monitor the car’s actions. However, the company plans to roll out unsupervised autonomous self-driving for FSD users in the future. However, it currently focusing on reducing intervention between miles to achieve fully autonomous driving goals.
