Rivian launches Halloween 2024 software update with car costumes and more
Rivian has unveiled the mysterious figure featured in the Halloween 2024 software update with interesting new car costumes and a classic and iconic user experience.
The EV maker has now published a video revealing actor David Hasselhoff, the lead protagonist of the Knight Rider series. The company has been teasing this collaboration for the past month and it’s finally here.
In Park mode, the car can apply new classic lighting, sound, and design from the Knight Rider TV series. That’s not it, users will also get Back to the Future and Spooky Haunted Rivian car costumes.
Knight Rider
You can now turn your R1 vehicles into a Knight Industries Two Thousand (K.I.T.T) car. Update your Rivian mobile app to the latest version and open the Get Spooky card from the home screen.
Select the K.I.T.T to change the interior display UI to K.I.T.T’s diagnostics on screen and play the intro music. Exclusively for Gen 2 vehicles, the lightbar will show red beam animation similar to the iconic car along with a siren sound effect.
Time Machine
If you are a fan of Back to the Future, this costume is for you. Head to the mobile app and select Time Machine to enter this new experience.
Once applied, the car will show you the Back to the Future interface with the Time Machine acceleration sound directly inspired by the movie.
Gen 2 R1 vehicles can press the 88mph button to fire back to the Future themed lighting and sound effects on the front and the rear lightbar.
Haunted Rivian
This third costume is designed with a Gear Guard dressed as a scarecrow. Tap the Truck or Treat option and turn your car into a full-scale Halloween house.
It brings eight sound effects and three color themes including purple, yellow, red, and green. This will be applied to your R1’s display with static and ghosts.
Gen 1 vehicles will enable green animation on the exterior and Gen 2 owners will see the select color on the light bar.
More
In addition to Owl chirp, the Halloween 2024 update brings two spooky chirp options for Gen 1 and four for Gen 2 vehicles. Meanwhile, the camp mode will feature crows, pumpkins, and green flames at nighttime.
Rivian R1 owners will also see spooky 3D artwork through all drive modes.
Availability
The Halloween 2024 software update will be available for Rivian R1 vehicles starting October 18 (midnight) for a limited time until November 4.
