Perplexity AI has officially announced its app for Mac devices launching soon and it’s currently open for pre-order through the App Store.

The generative AI model has taken the world by storm for its unique search capabilities. The tool is popular among researchers and people who want to extract important information from the web instantly.

These capabilities enable Perplexity to stand among the top AI companies including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. The company already offers services through a free mobile app for iPhone users.

The company has already listed this app on the App Store and you can pre-order it with your Apple ID. Based on the pre-order feedback, the app is expected to launch by October 15, 2024.

The listing confirmed that the app will bring a dedicated Perplexity widget to interact with the app directly from the home screen. The widget has a search bar, a voice input button, attach and other features.

You can also toggle Pro mode if subscribed through your Perplexity account. Speaking of which, the app will also offer a subscription but it might have an increased price compared to the web version due to Apple’s IAP processing fee.

If so, you are suggested to purchase the Perplexity subscription from its website rather than the Mac or iOS app.

Pro users receive at least 300 Pro searches per day. Each pro search deducts one credit from the daily limit, which will be restored 24 hours later. The Pro subscription also allows you to use the latest AI models including GPT-4o and Claude 3.5.
