Tesla has released a new wave of FSD 12.5.4 and it’s reaching legacy models as well as other vehicles with previous FSD 12 versions.

FSD 12 improved the self-driving experience with better maneuvers and enhanced object detection. With incremental upgrades, the company is feeding this FSD with new features. Over the past year, Tesla has developed many software builds to advance its core capabilities.

A few to mention are vision autopark, driver attention monitoring system, and smart summon. Speaking of which, the new FSD 12.5 took these advantages to hardware 4 (HW4/AI4) users. Later, the EV maker made some new progress in achieving parity with HW3/AI3 to adapt new features.

Last month it rolled out FSD 12.5.x for HW3 cars with all new features for these car owners. FSD 12.5 still has some major changes pending including end-to-end on the highway, natural lane changes decisions, and FSD for the Cybertruck electric pickup truck.

To move with this roadmap, the company has released sunglasses support for a new vision-based driver monitoring system. This change will allow FSD users to supervise self-driving sessions while wearing sunglasses without a system warning.

Additionally, the company is releasing Actually Smart Summon and Dumb Summon features for more FSD users. These have been sent to selected FSD subscribers with FSD 12.5.3 but now it’s reaching a wide user base.

Legacy models and old builds:

Tesla owners on social media site X posted the FSD 12.5.4 is expanding with a new wave of rollout including legacy models. Unfortunately, these models aren’t getting actually smart summon feature.

Teslascope said this could be due to “a lack of streaming cameras to the mobile app.” However, a particular reason is not available at the moment. Other than these, the electric vehicle firm is sending this new version to v12.5, v12.4.3, v12.3.6, and previous builds.

Still, these are early rollouts and new waves will continue to release in the coming weeks.
