Tesla FSD 12.3.6 users are now getting 12.5.2.1 upgrade

Tesla is sending a new wave of FSD 12.5.2.1 for 12.3.6 and later users to install the latest features and capabilities of version 12.5 onboard.

Tesla released 12.3.6 in April this year, one of the first supervised builds aside from the beta tag. Since then, HW3 users have been running this branch without an upgrade. Some 12.3.6 users found it amusing as it returned autopark and vision park assist features.

The reason for that is the code management. The EV maker has been conducting two separate developments for HW3 and HW4. It has prioritized HW4 to advance the latest FSD features while also working on HW3.

Tesla recently announced a 12.5 rollout for HW3 users, released later in August. Although it reached so many cars but major number of users are still stuck on the older version.

Reddit users have shared the same feedback on this new FSD update. Some wrote that the 2021, 2022, and 2023 models remained on the 12.3.6 and 12.4.3. Meanwhile, some of the 2018 Model 3 (HW3) owners confirmed that the new upgrade has just landed on their cars.

These cases might get resolved with the next rollout waves as FSD 12.5.2.1 goes wide in the coming week.

FSD is a self-driving technology that enables cars to drive automatically. It can detect on-road objects, take turns, detect pedestrians, react to stop signs, and more. However, it’s a supervised tech, and a driver behind needs to take the wheel when required.

FSD 12.5 promises a major change in the autonomous driving experience. It has some pending improvements including a natural lane change decision-making for improved accuracy. This will add support for sunglasses in the vision-only driver monitoring system to remove on-screen warnings.

End-to-end on-highway will also be released alongside to provide excellent support from city-to-highway scenarios. Tesla’s Cybertruck is also planned to get FSD with 12.5.

Interestingly, users are waiting for these new capabilities, which could roll out through September.
