How to download and install iOS 18

Apple is rolling out iOS 18 for all eligible devices and you can download and install this latest software upgrade on your model over the air with this how to guide.

Before we begin, make sure you have a backup of your important media (photos and videos) before you start the download process. You can do this by using iCloud or your Mac.

Also, iOS 18 comes with some brand new changes and it will change some aspects of the software, which you may be unfamiliar with. You can check a brief introduction below.

Note – Your device must be charged over 50% to install this update. Please plug in the power adapter and charge your phone in case of a lower battery level.

How to download and Install iOS 18:

1. Connect your iPhone to a Wi-Fi network (via Control Center or Settings)
2. Open Settings app
3. Go to General
4. Tap on Software Update (Here you will see the latest software update update)
5. You can choose the software update and press “Download and Install.
6. Enter your passcode to start the download process (required).
7. Subsequently, your phone will request the latest software release for your device and start downloading the over-the-air (OTA) package.

Once downloaded, you can choose to install the update instantly or do it overnight. Based on your selection, the device will restart and take a few minutes to install the OTA package.

It will restart the device once the installation is finished. There you go, iOS 18 is now ready to be used on your iPhone.

This new software comes with customization features for the home screen including icons. You can tint icons, change their colors, or dark them up. The control center is also getting a major revamp with new screens and custom controls.

Customers can now lock installed apps with Face ID, which will require verification each time the app is opened. Photos app is bringing a new easy-to-use user interface to arrange and sort your favorite photographs.

Messages app will provide options to optimize text and expand reactions in conversations. You can even schedule a message to send later. The mail app now enables email categorizations for ease of access.

Safari browser will highlight relevant information on a page as you browse. It helps you to check information at a fast pace.
