Tesla FSD 12.5.2.1

Tesla is now rolling out FSD version 12.5.2.1 for Model 3 and Y with software update 2024.27.10. This is an incremental update for previously released firmware and it probably targets HW3 cars.

FSD is Tesla’s self-driving technology that can drive on-road and through different scenarios. However, a driver is required behind the wheel to control complex situations.

The company has been testing the new FSD version 12 for the past 1 year and achieved major improvement by installing all of the previously available features for vision-only cars.

For example, it has enabled the Actually Smart Summon and Dumb Summon features with FSD 12.5.3. It allows customers to bring the car to a location with a mobile app. This feature has been removed from Tesla cars a few years ago with the introduction of the camera-based vision system.

The EV maker is also conducting a separate development for hardware 3 (AI3) to achieve unified development alongside hardware 4 (AI4). Last month, AI3 cars received FSD 12.5 for the first time.

However, Tesla continues to validate FSD 12.5 combability with AI3 cars to provide new features. According to the recent FSD 12 roadmap, The company will release a new 3 times miles between necessary interventions under the 12.5.2 rollout.

It unifies models for AI3 and AI4. Thus improving the parity of software development for both car models. Unfortunately, none of these improvements have been mentioned in the changelog, and users receiving the new version will have to check these features onboard.

Tesla has a big plan for FSD releases throughout September including natural lane change decisions to provide a more human-like lane change experience.

Vision-only driver monitoring system will get support for sunglasses, as it currently shows warnings for such behavior.

Furthermore, Cybertruck planned to receive FSD with a new software release by this month. Interestingly, Tesla still has these changes pending and we’ll have to wait for rollouts.
