SpaceX launches 21 Starlink satellites from California (September 12, 2024)

On September 12, 2024, SpaceX launched 21 Starlink satellites into orbit using the Falcon 9 rocket. Early in the morning, the company launched AST SpaceMobile’s BlueBird 1-5 mission.

Among the 21 Starlinks, there are 13 Direct to Cell satellites. SpaceX and T-Mobile are testing satellite to smartphone capabilities and these new sats are crucial to such technology.

The liftoff was conducted from Space Launch Complex 4 East at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

With this flight, the booster completed its 18th overall flight, which returned to an I Still Love You drone ship stationed in the Pacific Ocean.

It previously supported missions including NROL-87, NROL-85, SARah-1, SWOT, Transporter-8, Transporter-9 and NROL-146 and 10 Starlink missions.
