Should you buy an iPhone 16?

Apple has unveiled the iPhone 16 series for global consumers and will start pre-orders on September 13, followed by sales on 20th. The question is, should you buy the new iPhone 16? Let’s take a look at what these phones have to offer.

The iPhone 16 series consists of Standard, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max models. The Pro and non-Pro have some new parallel changes.

iPhone 16 and 16 Plus

These two devices are identical to the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. That includes the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen sizes respectively. The rear camera layout is changed from square to vertical. However, the camera lenses are the same as the iPhone 15/Plus.

These two iPhones are equipped with a new A18 chipset with improved performance and new AI-enabled cores for Apple Intelligence.

Apple says it has improved battery life in these devices but no comparison or test graph is shared on this matter. As usual, the company has kept the battery capacity hidden.

iPhone 16 Pro

This year, Apple has installed new screens in Pro and Pro Max models at 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch respectively. These are upgraded from 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch used in 15 Pros.

The company has upgraded the camera system with a new 48MP ultra wide-angle camera from 12MP in 15 Pros. The Pro model has received a new telephoto camera with 5X telephoto from 2X. These can also shoot 4K videos at 120fps for maximum quality.

Pro models maintain superiority with the A18 Pro chip processed with 3nm technology.

Camera Controls

These iPhones have new camera controls. This is not a button, instead, it is a sensitive touch feedback area added in the middle of the frame.

Customers can use these controls to manage different camera settings, launch the camera app, and take photographs.

AI

For the majority of iPhone 16 showcase, Apple promoted new AI features. However, none of these new iPhones will enable them out of the box.

Instead, Apple will install AI features with a software update in October. Even with that, the first update will only include some AI capabilities and consumers will have to wait for new software updates to be released in the following months.

Furthermore, iPhone 16 buyers in non-English markets will have to wait until next year to get Apple Intelligence features.

Should you buy an iPhone 16?

It depends on whether you are a first-time buyer or looking for an upgrade.
