Here’s when and how to watch Polaris Dawn crew spacewalk
SpaceX Dragon and Polaris Dawn crew are now at the highest Earth orbit and the next milestone is to perform a first-ever Extravehicular Activity AKA spacewalk.
The crew will attempt a spacewalk from Dragon on Thursday, September 12 at 5:58 a.m. ET. There’s also a backup opportunity on Friday, September 13 at the same attempt window.
This event will be broadcast live on SpaceX’s X social media account and the new X TV app. You can tune in one hour prior to the spacewalk for a live stream and replay will be available soon after the broadcast.

The Polaris Dawn crew includes Jared Isaacman (mission commander), Kidd Poteet (pilot), Sarah Gillis (specialist), and Anna Menon (medical officer). These astronauts are wearing the first-ever EVA suits designed and developed by SpaceX.
The new suit is an upgraded version of the Intravehicular Activity (IVA) suit used in Dragon’s crew flight to the international space station.

The suites are designed with new materials, fabrication processes, and joints to provide mobility and increase flexibility in Space. It is combined with a 3D-printed helmet with a visor to reduce glare during the spacewalk alongside a new heads-up display (HUD) and camera.
The helmet also provides information on the suit’s pressure, temperature, and relative humidity. This EVA suit has new seals and pressure valves to keep the suits pressurized during EVA activity.
The Polaris Dawn mission will help to improve the EVA suit designs and advance it to the next level for other planetary travel.
